Driving Directions to Diamond Beach from Reykjavik

From Reykjavik Center, take Route 49 (Miklalbraut / Nesbraut) for 4.1 kilometers (about 2.5 miles) to Route 1 South, also called Hringvegur or Ring Road.

Drive on Route 1 South to Jökulsárlón in Sveitarfélagið Hornafjörður (approximately 380 kilometers, 236 miles).

Make a right onto Jökulsárlón and drive to the parking lot at Diamond Beach East (350 meters, 0.2 mile).

To get to the parking lot at Diamond Beach West, you drive on Route 1 for 375 kilometers (233 miles) and then turn right onto the side road off Route 1 before you hit the Jokulsarlon Glacier lagoon outlet. On Google Maps, you can put your destination as Diamond Beach Lookout (see map).

From Vik, take Route 1, also called Hringvegur or Ring Road to Jökulsárlón in Sveitarfélagið Hornafjörður (approximately 191.8 kilometers, 119 miles).

Make a right onto Jökulsárlón and drive to the parking lot at Diamond Beach East (350 m, 0.2 mile).

To get to the parking lot at Diamond Beach West, you drive on Route 1 for 190.8 kilometers (118.5 miles) and then turn right onto the side road off Route 1 before you hit the Jokulsarlon Glacier lagoon outlet. On Google Maps, you can put your destination as Diamond Beach Lookout (see map).
